Native macOS appRadio Naoufal

A native macOS radio app with 35+ Dutch stations, live audio-reactive VU meters, AirPlay and a retro boombox interface.

01The problem

What needed solving.

Most radio apps are utilitarian: a list and a play button. None of them feel like the object they are supposed to replace.

02The approach

How I got there.

Design the app as the device. A retro boombox shell with real VU meters that move with the audio, tuned for the nostalgia of listening to a radio.

03The result

What it became.

A working native macOS app with live audio-reactive VU meters and a distinctive hardware-inspired interface.

04Impact

What it actually did.

Treats a radio app as an object, not a list. The audio-reactive VU meters make it feel like you are actually operating a receiver, not tapping a row of buttons.
